Eduardo Rodriguez gave the Boston Red Sox and their fans a scare Saturday when he awkwardly turned his right knee, but the left-hander said he was “fine” afterward.

However, it turns out Rodriguez suffered a right patellar subluxation, and the Red Sox will keep him out of spring training activities for three days before reassessing the situation.

“As far any kind of structural damage, there isn’t any,” Red Sox manager John Farrell told reporters Sunday at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Fla., via WEEI.com. “The cartilage is fine. The ligaments are fine. There’s some swelling. He’s going through some treatment and will continue to do so. When he’s deemed ready to initiate a throwing program, we’ll do so at that time.”

Farrell added: “The next 72 hours are probably what we’ll keep an eye on as far as the swelling being taken out of there. Once that happens, we’ll initiate the throwing program. As far as anything beyond the 72 hours, we’ve got to get that point.”

Rodriguez elaborated on how he was feeling later in the day during an interview with WEEI.com.

“I can walk, so if I can walk, I’m fine, you know what I mean?” Rodriguez said.

He added: “I just do what they say, and they tell me I’m fine and I just have to go day by day. Like they say, it’s not serious like that. Just swollen.”
