The Boston Red Sox enter spring training in a familiar yet very different spot.

It’s familiar in the sense that expectations again are high despite Boston coming off its second consecutive last-place finish. The Red Sox added several fresh faces, though, and some interesting — unforeseen, in some cases — events over the last year have given this season a sense of newness.

Many Red Sox players reported early to spring training in Fort Myers, Fla., but Thursday marks the official beginning of camp, as it’s the date pitchers and catchers are required to report. There definitely is no shortage of storylines, so the next month and a half before Opening Day should be fun.

From positional battles to new acquisitions fitting in and everything in between, Red Sox spring training tends to be eventful. And 2016 probably won’t be any different.
