BOSTON — Isaiah Thomas’ game is bigger than his 5-foot-9 frame. Just ask DeMarcus Cousins.

The Celtics point guard scored 22 points Sunday in his team’s win over the Sacramento Kings, but the highlight that had everyone talking came in the third quarter, when Kings point guard Rajon Rondo sent a lob in the direction of the 6-foot-11 Cousins.

That’s when Thomas intervened.

It appeared Cousins was going to miss the alley-oop attempt anyway, but considering the big man has more than a foot on Thomas, we’d say this is a pretty impressive block. Yet according to the All-Star point guard, who spent three seasons with Cousins in Sacramento, it’s not the first time he’s rejected his former teammate.

“Nah, I did it a couple times at practice,” Thomas said. “You can put that on paper.”

Thomas, who celebrated his 27th birthday Sunday, could be heard shouting an obscenity as he went up to block Cousins’ shot and admitted he made sure the center heard about it after the play.

“We always joke around in the games, so I was able to talk a little trash to him,” Thomas said.
