In all likelihood, no one enjoyed Kobe Bryant’s final visit to Cleveland less than D’Angelo Russell.
Not only did Russell’s Lakers fall to the Cavaliers 120-111 on Wednesday night, dropping Los Angeles’ record to 11-44. But LeBron James also drilled Russell right in the groin with an errant pass in the third quarter as the Lakers trailed by 22 points.
Losing definitely hurts, even when you do it as much as the Lakers have this season. Adding injury — in this case, a rather embarrassing injury — to insult only makes matters worse.
Fortunately, Russell was able to chuckle about the incident after the game. Perhaps he’ll even someday tell his kids about how one of the greatest players in NBA history once crushed his family jewels.
Assuming that whole kid thing still is an option.
