Tampa Bay Lightning center Tyler Johnson was forced to leave Sunday’s win over the Boston Bruins at TD Garden late in the third period when he took a puck to the face in a scary scene.

Johnson was along the boards in the Bruins’ zone when a clearing attempt by B’s defenseman Kevan Miller caught Johnson. The Lightning center immediately fell to the ice, but he quickly got to his feet and skated down the tunnel toward the locker room under his own power.

Warning: the following video contains a lot of blood.

Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said he saw Johnson getting stitched up when the team came into the locker room after the game and also noted the 25-year-old forward wasn’t dazed when he skated off the ice.

The situation could have been even worse if Johnson wasn’t wearing a visor.
