SAN FRANCISCO — Marcus Allen didn’t just play football. He loved it.
Allen stopped by Radio Row on behalf of Bud Light this week and chatted with NESN.com’s Ashley Allen about the upcoming Super Bowl matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. The Hall of Famer also discussed his own career, however, and his passion for the game is obvious.
“I love football. I treated it with velvet gloves,” the six-time Pro Bowl running back said. “This was my job. But I was also passionate about it because I wanted to be the very, very best. And hopefully that will be the players’ approach as well.
“This is something that most of us wanted to do as kids and we’re living a dream. Hopefully they will take care of that dream and put all things aside and come out and honor themselves and play the best game possible and their families, and that should be, I think, enough.”
Marcus Allen was the MVP of Super Bowl XVIII, in which the Los Angeles Raiders defeated the Washington Redskins 38-9. The former Raiders running back broke a then-Super Bowl record 74-yard run in the big game, which he also touched on in his Radio Row conversation with NESN.com.
As Marcus Allen stressed, it’s all about the fans when it comes to Bud Light. The same clearly applies to the NFL legend based on his enthusiasm for the game of football.
