McCourty Twins (Devin, Jason) Once Tricked Bill Belichick With Looks

Even Bill Belichick isn’t immune to the confusion that identical twins can cause.

New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty and Tennessee Titans cornerback Jason McCourty — identical twins — sometimes use their looks to play tricks on others. One time, as Devin explained Thursday on the NFL Network, Belichick mixed up the brothers before New England’s Super Bowl XLVI matchup with the New York Giants.

The Patriots were hosting a Family Day on the field, which involved taking photos. Belichick walked up to Jason, according to Devin, and at first confused him for the Patriots defensive back.

“(Belichick) was like, ‘Why aren’t you dressed with your jersey and stuff on?’ ” Devin said, recalling the Patriots head coach’s interaction with Jason. ” … That was probably the best trick that we got somebody.”

The McCourty twins have been discussing their likeness for years. It’s inevitable, especially when the two walk into a room together. They seem to be embracing the situation, though.

Perhaps someday they’ll play together on the same NFL team, just like they did at Rutgers.
