The Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies pulled off a buzzer-beater ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.
The Clippers sent guard Lance Stephenson to the Grizzlies in exchange for forward Jeff Green, according to multiple reports. The Grizzlies also acquired a “heavily protected” 2019 first-round draft pick, ESPN’s Zach Lowe reported.
The reported trade reunites Green with Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, who coached the forward with the Boston Celtics. Green is having an OK season, averaging 12.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 53 games this season with Memphis.
Stephenson should give the Grizzlies some depth and added toughness. The 25-year-old is averaging 4.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game this season in relatively limited playing time (15.8 minutes per game).
