The Sacramento Kings are just 4 1/2 games out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference exiting the All-Star break, and it appears they are looking to bolster their roster before Thursday’s trade deadline.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard, citing a league source, reported Wednesday morning the Kings are interested in acquiring Atlanta Hawks small forward Thabo Sefolosha. Broussard added Sefolosha would “be (a) much-needed defensive boost (on the) perimeter.”

Sefolosha is averaging 6.8 points, 4.5 rebounds. 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 49 games for the Hawks this season. He’s still a pretty athletic player at age 31, and his impressive size (6-foot-7, 220 pounds) and length allow him to guard multiple positions, whether it’s shooting guards or small forwards.

He’s shooting just 31 percent from 3-point land this season, but he’s shown the ability to be a capable outsider shooter in the past, most notably with the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2011-12 through 2012-13.

Sefolosha is signed through next season with a salary of $4 million, per Hoops Hype.
