Neymar Comically Waits Forever To Take Penalty Kick, Misses (Video)

Neymar appeared to be having second, third, fourth and fifth through ninth thoughts about the penalty kick he was about to take before he demonstrated the perils of overthinking things.

The Barcelona star missed a penalty kick Wednesday during his team’s Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) semifinal first-leg game against Valencia. Misses from the spot happen, but the length of time Neymar waited before striking the ball is a fresh twist on the mind games that take place during penalty kicks.

Barcelona was winning 3-0 just before halftime when Lionel Messi won a penalty kick under a heavy challenge from defender Shkodran Mustafi. Messi then passed up the chance to score his 500th career goal in order to let Neymar put himself on the score-sheet.

Neymar stepped up to the spot and waited for what seemed like an eternity — but actually was around nine seconds.

This penalty-kick miss was Neymar’s fourth of the season.

Perhaps he should consider stopping his non-rolling-stone act?

It didn’t matter much in the big picture, as Barcelona beat Valencia 7-0.
