Anthony Bennett is on the move — again.
The Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2013 No. 1 overall draft pick already has played for three teams during his brief NBA career, and he soon will be playing for his fourth after the Toronto Raptors waived the forward to make room for veteran Jason Thompson, sources told The Vertical’s Shams Charania.
It’s been a disappointing career so far for the former UNLV standout. He averaged 4.2 points and three rebounds in 52 games for the Cavs as a rookie, and he didn’t fare much better with the Minnesota Timberwolves the following year after he was part of the Andrew Wiggins-Kevin Love trade.
The 2015-16 season was an opportunity for Bennett to turn thing around with his hometown team, but he played in just 19 games before Monday’s news.
Bennett’s next destination could be Phoenix, as the Suns are considering taking a look at the 22-year-old forward, according to Charania.
No matter where he ends up next, it will be hard for Bennett to wipe away the stigma of being one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory.
