In the aftermath of Jason Pierre-Paul’s Fourth of July fireworks accident that left him with an amputated right index finger this past summer, ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter obtained the New York Giants defensive end’s medical records and posted them on Twitter.

And that controversial decision could end up costing Schefter.

Pierre-Paul has decided to sue both the network and Schefter, and he made it official Wednesday in a Florida court. His suit claims his privacy was violated, and that Schefter improperly obtained the records, according to the New York Post.

“This action arises out of ESPN reporter Schefter’s blatant disregard for the private and confidential nature of plaintiff’s medical records, all so Schefter could show the world that he had ‘supporting proof’ of a surgical procedure,” the suit says, via The Post.
