The worst kept secret in New England reportedly became official Tuesday.

The New England Patriots have re-hired former offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia to the same position, a source told ESPN’s Adam Caplan. The two sides reportedly started talking about a reunion on Feb. 8, and Scarnecchia’s return seems set to become a reality just over a week later.

Scarnecchia, 68, spent most of his coaching career climbing the ranks in the Patriots organization and he eventually was named the offensive line coach ahead of the 2000 season. He remained in that position until he retired after the 2013 campaign.

Dave DeGuglielmo replaced Scarnecchia, but the Patriots parted ways with him last month following a disastrous performance by the offensive line in the 2015 AFC Championship Game.
