Sunday could be the last time we ever see Peyton Manning play football.
The Denver Broncos quarterback is reportedly telling those close to him he plans to retire following Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
“The reality is he let the cat out of the bag a little bit,” Rapoport said on NFL Network’s “Super Bowl Live” on Monday, via NFL.com. “I also know he has told close friends that he expects this to be his last game, as well.”
Rapoport’s referring to Manning’s comments to New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick — Manning reportedly said “this might be my last rodeo” — following Denver’s 20-18 AFC Championship Game victory on Jan. 24.
No one knows when Manning will announce the news, if that is indeed his decision. But don’t be surprised if this Bronco rides off into the sunset in the near future.
