If Peyton Manning decides Super Bowl 50 isn’t his last rodeo, the Denver Broncos quarterback might be able to find work in the NFL’s newest city.
ESPN.com reported Wednesday that the Los Angeles Rams have had “internal discussions” about the possibility of bringing in Manning, assuming the Denver quarterback doesn’t retire after the Super Bowl.
This seems like a long shot at this point given what Manning told New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick after the AFC Championship and a report from NFL Media earlier this week saying Manning has told those close to him he intends to retire. But maybe with a strong showing in the Super Bowl and a tempting offer from the new-look Rams, Manning could change his mind.
Manning does have another year on his Broncos contract, but ESPN.com reports that “most around the league do not expect (Manning)Â to return to Denver next season, if he returns at all.”
The Rams publicly stated after the season — and before their move to Los Angeles — that Case Keenum will enter the 2016 season as their starting quarterback. The fact that the Rams reportedly are considering turning to a relatively broken-down, 40-year-old over Keenum is a pretty good reflection of St. Louis’ QB situation at the moment.
