Rex Ryan is known for his defense, but you wouldn’t have known it last season.
The Buffalo Bills head coach took a talented defense and failed to properly utilize his personnel. As a result, the Bills ranked a mediocre 19th in yards allowed and 15th in points allowed.
When asked how he plans to alleviate the problems Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, he gave a very Rex Ryan answer.
What he failed to address was what hiring his brother, Rob, will do for Buffalo’s lackluster defense. Rob was fired as New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator in November. At the time of his firing, the Saints ranked last in both yards and points allowed.
On the bright side, now that Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots are off Ryan’s mind, he can work on that defense.
