Sepp Blatter won’t leave the soccer world without telling his own story.
Blatter is expected to publish a book titled “Sepp Blatter: Mission Football” this week, Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol reported Tuesday. Blatter’s spokesman Thomas Renggli wrote the book, which should be released ahead of Friday’s FIFA presidential election in Zurich.
Swiss publisher Werd & Weber said in a preview that Blatter’s book will be about the four decades he spent as an administrator in world soccer’s governing body.
“Despite the success, Blatter repeatedly had to put up with harsh reviews and prejudices,” Werd & Weber wrote, per Sky Sports. “In this richly illustrated book, written by his spokesman, Thomas Renggli, Sepp Blatter tells how he learned to deal with the hostility.”
Blatter served as FIFA’s president from 1998 to 2015. He announced in June following the outbreak of the FIFA scandal that he’d stand down from the presidency once FIFA chose his successor at a special election.
FIFA denied Blatter his desired swan song in December, banning the 79-year-old Swiss administrator for eight years for numerous ethics violations.
Blatter continues to fight his ban. He’ll likely use “Mission Football” to defend his legacy and reputation within the walls of FIFA and around the soccer world.
