If you don’t believe Tom Brady knows exactly how long he’ll be on the outside looking in, ask his father.

In an appearance on Tom E. Curran’s “Quick Slants” Podcast for CSNNE.com, Tom Brady Sr. revealed Friday that his son’s gym featuresĀ a clock that is counting down to Super Bowl 51 (Super Bowl LI).

Brady Sr. was discussing the role that passion plays in his son’s career and the lifestyle difference between someone who “plays football” and someone who is a “football player.”

ā€œTommy is a football player,ā€ Brady Sr. said. ā€œThis is not a July to January or February endeavor for him. He loves two-a-days that started for him a week ago that will be two-a-days from January 20 to the next February.

“He has got a countdown clock in his gym that is now ticking to next yearā€™s Super Bowl. Itā€™s clicking, yes. And he’s still doing his two-a-days.

“So this passion comes from a whole bunch of hard work, and the hard work is driven by the passion. He loves what he’s doing … ”

Brady led the New England Patriots to the brink of Super Bowl 50 but ultimately fell to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game. He’ll likely watch Sunday as the Broncos face the Carolina Panthers for NFL supremacy and then return to training for next season.

After all, Super Bowl LI will take place Feb. 5, 2017 in Houston, Texas, and the clock is ticking.
