It’s back to business for the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, as they hit the court against the Chicago Bulls as one of the handful of NBA teams kicking off the traditional “second half” of the NBA season.
Cleveland made a minor upgrade to the bottom of its rotation at the NBA trade deadline, acquiring sharpshooting big man Channing Frye from the Orlando Magic in exchange for longtime Cavalier forward Anderson Varejao. Frye immediately becomes the third-best 3-point shooter on the team.
The Bulls, however, stood pat at the deadline after center/forward Pau Gasol indicated he’d like to sign a contract extension with the team. Though Chicago has lost several players, including star Jimmy Butler, to injury this season and is quickly sinking out of a playoff position, it certainly has enough talent to fight for a final playoff seed.
