Eduardo Rodriguez made an important step Wednesday in his recovery from an injured knee.

The Boston Red Sox left-hander has been sidelined with a right knee injury since Feb. 27, when he awkwardly landed during a spring training workout at JetBlue Park. Rodriguez has thrown off level ground since then, but Wednesday marked the first time he threw off a mound.

“We’re going to sit down and put a plan together,” Red Sox pitching coach Carl Willis said on “NESN Live” after Rodriguez pitched off a mound in Fort Myers, Fla. “We’ll try to get a little more specific. It’s kind of a day-to-day thing where we had to get him to this point and see where we’d be before we could sit down and try to map things out. So we’ll try to work on that now. … But in the next several days, there’ll definitely be a plan in place.”

NESN’s cameras were there to catch a glimpse of the important step in Rodriguez’s recovery, which you can watch in the video above.
