Tavon Wilson’s time is up in New England after four seasons with the Patriots.

The free-agent safety will be moving on from the Patriots, a source told NESN.com on Tuesday. WIlson is one of nine Patriots unrestricted free agents. Free agency begins Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. Running backs LeGarrette Blount and Steven Jackson, wide receiver Brandon Gibson, offensive lineman Ryan Wendell, defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, pass rusher Dekoda Watson, cornerback Tarell Brown and safety Nate Ebner also will hit the open market if the Patriots don’t re-sign them before free agency begins.

The Patriots selected Wilson in the second round with the 48th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He played in 54 games, starting four and recording 79 tackles with four interceptions. He primarily was used as a backup strong safety and special teamer.

The Patriots have safeties Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung, Duron Harmon and Jordan Richards locked up for the 2016 season. Safeties Brock Vereen and Cedric Thompson are signed to future/reserve contracts.
