UPDATE (Friday, March 25 at 12:45 p.m. ET): The NHL has fined Josh Manson $2,486.56 for his obscene gesture. That’s the maximum amount allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.
ORIGINAL STORY: Anaheim Ducks defenseman Josh Manson was upset about being rammed into the glass by Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri in Thursday’s game at the Air Canada Centre.
Manson took his frustration too far, though, and was ejected after making a throat-slash gesture toward Kadri.
Manson should’ve known what the outcome would’ve been for that kind of obscene gesture. Kadri himself was fined the maximum amount allowed under the CBA for giving a throat-slash gesture toward Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano in February. Manson could receive a similar fine.
Kadri was penalized for his hit on Manson, but he later redeemed himself by scoring the game-winner in overtime.
Anaheim still clinched a playoff spot in the Western Conference with its point gained in the 6-5 overtime loss.
