Miesha Tate featured editWhen Miesha Tate enters the octagon at UFC 196 on Saturday, it’ll be her third shot at the women’s bantamweight championship belt.

Though the ghosts of her previous failures certainly could be floating somewhere in her mind in the days leading to the fight, Tate isn’t taking anything for granted this time around.

“I’m one in two women in the whole world that’s fighting Saturday night for the biggest promotion in MMA, and how could you take that for granted?” Tate said at an open workout Wednesday, via MMA Junkie. “I understand this is a big opportunity for me.

“There’s no guarantees that I’ll ever get another title shot at this point, so it is a do-or-die. It’s the only thing that matters to me. Nothing comes after that, and it’s just tunneling in. I feel super energetic and super focused.”

It’ll take all the energy and focus Tate has to steal that title from defending bantamweight champion Holly Holm.
