It’s about time Chris Johnson’s NFL Scouting Combine-record 4.24-second 40-yard dash had some competition.
Johnson’s blazing-fast run had been the time to beat since 2008, but a little-known NAIA wide receiver blew past him at Saturday’s NFL Regional Combine in Winter Park, Minn. University of the Cumberlands wideout Wendall Williams set a new unofficial record with his 4.19-second 40-yard dash.
As you can see in the tweet, there is a discrepancy with the time. The hand time produced the record number, but the laser clocked him in at 4.32 seconds. Still, plenty of highly recruited Football Bowl Subdivision players would love to have either of those times.
Williams continued his impressive regional combine with a 45-inch vertical jump.
The wideout had 15 receptions for 457 yards with eight touchdowns, along with three rushing scores and one trip to the end zone on a punt return, in 2015.
