NBA Rumors: Kevin Martin To Join Spurs After Being Waived By T-Wolves

The San Antonio Spurs have added another piece to their roster for the last stretch of the regular season and the NBA playoffs.

Free-agent guard Kevin Martin will join the Spurs, who were among several teams interested in his services, per ESPN’s Marc Stein.

Martin was waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 1, making him eligible for playoff action.

The 33-year-old two-guard is averaging 10.6 points per game this season, including a 37 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line and 88 percent from the free throw line.

Martin gives Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich another outside shooter to stretch the floor and provide valuable bench scoring. His defense isn’t elite by any means, but that shouldn’t be an issue for a San Antonio team that plays really good team defense.

The Spurs enter Saturday’s action with a 52-9 record, the second-best in the league. They are 3 1/2 games behind the defending champion Golden State Warriors for the top seed in the Western Conference.
