There’s no shortage of technical fouls between Rajon Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins.
The two Sacramento Kings are among the NBA’s most controversial players, at least when it comes to officials. Both Rondo and Cousins have the reputation around the league as being a little hot under the collar from time to time, especially when dealing with referees.
So, honestly, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Rondo and Cousins ended up with technical fouls on the same play at the same time Wednesday night. Late in the Kings’ blowout win over the Washington Wizards, both Rondo and Cousins were T’d up, but they didn’t seem to do a whole lot, if we’re being honest.
Judging by the video below, the referee didn’t appreciate what looked like mock clapping from both Rondo and Cousins after he called a violation on the Kings with just seconds left in the one-sided game.

The technical was Rondo’s second of the game, resulting in an ejection. Cousins’ was his league-leading 16th and means he’s facing a one-game suspension … unless the NBA rescinds the tech.
“It’s kind of unfortunate that it happened,” Cousins told reporters after the game, per The Associated Press. “I really don’t know what to say about it. If I say something, I’ll get punished, and if I don’t say something, I’ll get punished. I really don’t know what the answer is anymore. I’m highly disappointed in what just happened.”
