Restricted free agent Chris Hogan must have impressed the New England Patriots in his visit to Gillette Stadium on Thursday.

The Patriots are expected to sign Hogan to an offer sheet Friday morning, the Buffalo News’ Vic Carucci reported Thursday night. The offer will “tough” for the Buffalo Bills to match, Carucci is hearing.

The Bills will have five days to match the Patriots’ offer sheet. The Bills tendered Hogan at the lowest level, and since the wideout came into the NFL undrafted, the Patriots won’t have to give up a draft pick to acquire him.

Hogan, 27, caught 36 passes for 450 yards with two touchdowns last season. He had 41 receptions for 426 yards with four touchdowns in 2014. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound receiver has the versatility to play inside and outside receiver.

He ran a 4.50-second 40-yard dash while coming out of Monmouth in 2011 with a 6.75-second 3-cone drill, 4.15-second short shuttle, 36.5-inch vertical leap and 10-foot, 6-inch broad jump.

The Patriots need a big-bodied wide receiver after releasing Brandon LaFell last week. They currently have receivers Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Keshawn Martin, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper and Matthew Slater on their roster.
