The New England Patriots unsurprisingly are showing interest in a coupleĀ of the top available free-agent wide receivers.

The Patriots share mutual interest with receiver Mohamed Sanu, a source told the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe. The Patriots also have expressed interest in wideout Rishard Matthews.

Sanu was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Rutgers. He has 152 career receptions for 1,793 yards with 11 touchdowns in four seasons with the Bengals.

Sanu was part of the same Rutgers recruiting class as current Patriots defensive backs Duron Harmon and Logan Ryan. Sanu originally was recruited as a safety before switching to wide receiver.
