Tuukka Rask once again will represent his country in a world competition this fall.
The Boston Bruins goalie on Wednesday was named to Finland’s 2016 World Cup of Hockey 16-player roster. Rask and countryman Pekka Rinne will team up to likely give Finland one of the best goaltending tandems in the tournament.
Rask has been a Finnish national program staple since his early playing days, when he starred on the country’s world junior championship team back in 2003-04. Rask posted a 1.61 goals against average and a .927 save percentage in his first taste of WJC action.
Rask also played a big role in the Finns’ impressive performance at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The Bruins netminder helped lead Finland to a bronze medal, making four appearances and posting a sparkling 1.73 goals against average and .938 save percentage in his first Olympic action.
