Italy and Spain, two titans of European soccer, will face off Thursday, just a few months before the real thing begins.
Italy welcomes Spain to Udine for an exhibition game, which serves as a preparation test for this summer’s UEFA Euro 2016. Antonio Conte and Vicente del Bosque, coaches of Italy and Spain, respectively, likely will experiment with tactics and personnel in this contest.
The teams have played each other 34 times. Spain has won 10, Italy has won 10, and 14 contests have ended in draws. Spain won the last meeting 1-0 in March 2014 in Madrid. Spain defeated Italy in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in June 2013 in the FIFA Confederations Cup. Prior to those meetings, Spain more famously routed Italy 4-0 in the Euro 2012 final.
ESPN2 will broadcast Italy vs. Spain in the United States. Here’s how to watch it online.
