The Villanova Wildcats haven’t made it to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament since their run to the Final Four in 2009. UNC Asheville would love to extend that drought a little longer.
The No. 2 seed Wildcats cruised to a 29-5 record and the Big East regular season championship, but they enter their first-round matchup with the Bulldogs fresh off a loss to Seton Hall in the conference’s tournament final. That, coupled with the fact that Villanova is no stranger to early tournament upsets lately, could mean good news for No. 15 seed UNC Asheville.
