It’s difficult to beat any team three times in one season. But that’s exactly what the No. 5 Xavier Musketeers are hoping to do Thursday night when they face the Marquette Golden Eagles in the quarterfinals of the Big East Championship.
Xavier, the No. 5 team in the country and No. 2 seed in the Big East tournament, stands a good chance of winning, but it should be noted that neither of its previous wins over Marquette this season (74-66 in Jan.; 90-82 in Feb.) came by double digits. A win Thursday likely is Marquette’s only chance to secure a NCAA tournament bid.
