Donald Trump Wants Tom Brady To Be Left Alone After Suspension Reinstated

Donald Trump has a lot of “friends,” and he’s not afraid to go to bat for said friends.

So when noted “friend of Donald Trump,” Tom Brady had his four-game suspension restored Monday, Trump was more than willing to weigh in with his opinion. The fact that the Republican candidate for president just happened to be in Rhode Island, where Brady basically is president, was gravy for Trump.

Trump hasn’t been shy when it comes to name-dropping Brady on the campaign trail. Unsurprisingly, mentioning Brady on Monday in New England went just a little bit better than it did last week in Maryland in the heart of Baltimore Ravens country.

Trump likely is hoping to once again take advantage of what he labeled in January “the Tom Brady effect,” after Brady spoke highly of the businessman.

“You saw what he said a couple of weeks ago,” Trump said on KXEL in Iowa back in January, shortly after Brady spoke about his friendship with Trump.

“He called, he said, ‘Trump is the greatest winner.’ When you get that, an then all of sudden in Massachusetts — I saw that because Tom is New England, Massachusetts — and all of a sudden in Massachusetts, we got pull numbers were at 52 percent.”

Trump ultimately won the Massachusetts primary and will look to do the same Tuesday in Rhode Island.
