The Golden State Warriors have gone from blowing teams out to engaging in battles on a nightly basis. But for the 71st time this season, they found a way to come away victorious.

The Warriors needed a late comeback and the benefit of an overturned call in the final minute to escape with a 100-99 win over the Grizzlies in Memphis. The win moves Golden State to 71-9, putting the Dubs two wins away from breaking the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ single-season record of 72 wins.

With just over a minute remaining and the Warriors trailing by one, Draymond Green tipped in a missed Stephen Curry layup at the rim. Green initially was called for basket interference, but the call was overturned upon review and the basket counted.

Lance Stephenson had a pair of shots to win on Memphis’ final possession but couldn’t connect.

The Grizzlies led for most of the game and held a 10-point advantage early in the fourth quarter, but a Curry 3-pointer and Green’s seven points in the final 12 minutes helped Golden State keep its shot at history alive.

The Warriors will face a huge test Sunday, traveling to San Antonio to take on the Spurs, who haven’t lost at home this season. They’ll finish up Wednesday against the same Grizzlies.
