BOSTON — The Red Sox have had some bad luck with opponents hitting shallow home runs around Pesky’s Pole this season, but Dustin Pedroia turned that luck around.

The Red Sox second baseman didn’t just hit a home run, but he sent a grand slam off the right-field pole against Bud Norris on Wednesday to put Boston ahead of the Atlanta Braves 6-1 in just the second inning. It was the third grand salami of Pedroia’s career.

Pedroia’s teammates obviously liked it, and it prompted pitcher Clay Buchholz and left fielder Brock Holt to do a little celebration dance.

The home run was Pedroia’s second of the 2016 season.
