Henry Owens’ first major league start of 2016 did not go as planned.
The 23-year-old Boston Red Sox left-hander gave up three runs last weekend against the Houston Astros but lasted just 3 1/3 innings. He’ll hope to rebound from that performance Friday night against the New York Yankees, against whom he made his major league debut last season.
In two starts against New York in 2015, Owens allowed 10 earned runs in 6 2/3 total innings.
Red Sox catcher Ryan Hanigan broke down Owens’ previous start, while NESN’s Tom Caron and Steve Lyons looked ahead to the lefty’s battle against Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka.
Check out everything they had to say in the “Red Sox Gameday Live” video above.
