The Florida Panthers will undergo a makeover this offseason, and we now have a good idea of what the centerpiece of that new look will be.

Uni Watch’s Paul Lukas tweeted an image of what appears to be the Panthers’ new logo Tuesday afternoon, and Chris Creamer of SportsLogos.net vouched for its legitimacy.

We’ve yet to see what Florida’s new uniforms will look like, but Creamer offered a description that lines up with what the Miami Herald’s George Richards reported back in December.

“Despite appearing like a shoulder patch or alternate logo, it will appear on the front of the new Florida Panthers jersey with a horizontal stripe across the chest Montreal Canadiens-style,” Creamer wrote. “… The alternate mark (not shown) features a prowling panther above a modified flag of the state of Florida.”

Though the Panthers have undergone various uniform tweaks since the franchise’s inception in 1993, this is the first significant change they’ve made to their logo, which had gone largely untouched during the team’s first 23 years of existence.

Florida’s season ended Sunday with a loss to the New York Islanders in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
