NFL Draft Odds: Jared Goff Prohibitive Favorite To Be Rams’ No. 1 Pick

Not so long ago, a fierce debate raged over which player should come off the board first at the 2016 NFL Draft: California quarterback Jared Goff or North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz.

But with Round 1 of the draft now only one day away, the odds are stacked squarely in Goff’s favor.

Bovada has the Cal signal-caller penciled in as a prohibitive 1-15 favorite to hear his name called first Thursday night in Chicago.

2016 NFL Draft: Who will be selected first overall?
Jared Goff 1-15
Carson Wentz 7-1
Any Other Player 33-1

Since the Los Angeles Rams, who traded up to acquire the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, and the Philadelphia Eagles, who did the same to acquire the second selection, both are needy at the quarterback position, it would be stunning if Wentz fell any lower than second.

The third overall pick, however, is far from a sure thing. The San Diego Chargers could go a variety of ways with the selection, as Ole Miss tackle Laremy Tunsil, Oregon defensive end DeForest Buckner, Notre Dame tackle Ronnie Staley and Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey all have been mentioned as possibilities.
