BOSTON — Pablo Sandoval isn’t going to make any guesses on what’s going on with his shoulder until he hears from Dr. James Andrews.
The Red Sox third baseman has been on the disabled list with a left shoulder strain since April 13 and was supposed to get a second opinion from the orthopedic surgeon on April 18. But Dr. Andrews deemed Sandoval’s shoulder to be too inflamed to get a good look.
Sandoval is in Boston for a few days before he goes back to Dr. Andrews on Monday, and he said it was nice to be back in the clubhouse Wednesday before the Red Sox’s game against the Atlanta Braves.
“It’s difficult because I’m the kind of guy that wants be around those guys every time, so I miss my team,” Sandoval said. “These couple days I’m happy to get back, to spend time with them a little bit more.”
As for his shoulder, Sandoval wasn’t about to make any predictions about when he might be back or what might come of his next appointment.
“I don’t know,” Sandoval said. “I’m not the doctor, so I’m going to let them make the decision, so I don’t know if I’m going to get surgery or if I’m not.”
Still, Kung Fu Panda did say he was feeling better than he did two weeks ago.
“At least I can move it around,” Sandoval said. “The inflammation went down, so I hope they can look at it and see what’s going on.”
