Patriots Undrafted Free Agent Tracker: D.J. Foster Announces Signing

FOXBORO, Mass. — The 2016 NFL Draft has concluded, and the undrafted free-agent signings are coming in fast.

Arizona State running back/wide receiver D.J. Foster signed with the Patriots, he tweeted.

Foster played running back in his first three seasons at Arizona State before moving to wide receiver. He finished his college career with 444 rushing attempts for 2,355 yards and 18 touchdowns and 222 catches for 2,458 yards with 14 touchdowns. He ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash, a 6.75-second three-cone drill and a 4.07-second short shuttle during the pre-draft process.

Vanderbilt tight end Steven Scheu also signed with the Patriots, he tweeted. He had 83 receptions for 933 yards with seven touchdowns in his four years in the SEC. The 6-foot-4, 253-pound tight end ran a 4.75-second 40-yard dash with a 1.65-second 10-yard split, a 7.14-second three-cone drill and a 4.35-second short shuttle, and he also posted a 33-inch vertical leap, 9-foot, 8-inch broad jump and 23 bench-press reps of 225 pounds at his pro day last month.

Ole Miss linebacker C.J. Johnson signed with the Patriots, he tweeted. The Patriots met with Johnson at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Florida Atlantic cornerback Cre’Von Leblanc also signed with the Patriots, his school tweeted. He had 43 tackles, four interceptions and 11 passes defended in 2015.

Auburn cornerback Jonathan Jones indicated he signed with the Patriots, via Twitter. Jones ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash with a 1.47-second 10-yard split, a 7.25-second three-cone and a 4.25-second short shuttle, and he also posted a 36-inch vertical leap, 10-foot, 3-inch broad jump and 19 bench-press reps of 225 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine. The 5-foot-9, 186-pound cornerback had seven interceptions and 24 passes defended in college.

Mississippi State wide receiver/tight end De’Runnya Wilson indicated he signed with the Patriots, via Twitter. Wilson, who’s 6-foot-5, 224 pounds, ran a 4.82-second 40-yard dash during the pre-draft process and also posted a 7.21-second three-cone, 4.52-second short shuttle, 28.5-inch vertical leap, 9-foot, 5-inch broad jump and 13 bench-press reps of 225 pounds. He caught 59 passes for 905 yards with 10 touchdowns in 2015.

The Patriots also signed Ole Miss defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton. He recorded 30 tackles with one sack in 2015.

Illinois cornerback V’Angelo Bentley signed with the Patriots, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He returned 86 kicks for 1,860 yards with one touchdown and 50 punts for 550 yards with one touchdown in four seasons at Illinois. He also had two interceptions.

Texas A&M safety Devonta Burns tweeted he’s joining the Patriots.

Auburn linebackers Kris Frost and Justin Garrett have accepted rookie minicamp invitations with the Patriots, according to AL.com’s James Crepea. Duke running back Shaquille Powell also received a rookie minicamp invite, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Eastern Carolina tight end Bryce Williams indicated on Twitter that he signed with the Patriots. He’s 6-foot-6, 257 pounds and caught 58 passes for 583 yards with four touchdowns in 2015.
