The best play from Monday’s Patriots’ Day matinee at Fenway Park might have come in the stands.

Sure, Jackie Bradley Jr. might have delighted the hometown crowd with a tumbling grab, and yes, we know Kevin Pillar made a sensational catch to rob Bradley later in the game. But the play of the game actually came from a hobbled fan sitting high above home plate.

One fearless Red Sox fan made a one-handed, barehanded snag on a hot-shot foul ball into the State Street Pavilion. The Sox fan, wearing a walking boot on one of his legs, leaned over a railing to grab the ball with his off-hand, holding his balance — and more importantly, his drink — while making the catch.

Unfortunately, the Red Sox couldn’t hold on to a 1-0 lead as the bullpen gave the game away late in the contest. At least this guy got to leave the ballpark with a souvenir — and a highlight.
