Report: Josh Gordon Might Be Reinstated For 2016 Despite Failed Drug Test

Josh Gordon apparently still has at least one more strike left.

The Cleveland Browns wide receiver reportedly failed a recent drug test, which doesn’t seem like great news for a guy who missed all of last season after multiple failed drug and alcohol tests. However, there’s reportedly still a chance Gordon could return to the field in 2016.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday, via a league source, that the reported failed test could just mean Gordon must wait a little longer to be reinstated after applying in January. According to Schefter, the NFL wants to see Gordon go 60 to 90 days without any “red-flag tests,” and if he can do that, there’s a chance he’ll be reinstated for the 2016 season.

When Gordon actually finds his way onto the football field, he’s one of the NFL’s most talented wide receivers. He led the NFL in receiving yards in 2013, when he caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns, one year after hauling in 50 passes for 805 yards as a rookie.
