Rex Ryan says he’s supporting a presidential candidate who’s no longer in the race, but he’s still introduced the Republican front-runner Monday night in Buffalo.

GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump appeared at First Niagara Center on Monday for a rally one day before the crucial New York primaries, and the Buffalo Bills head coach introduced him.

After taking the podium and starting with a story about Trump from the USFL, the boisterous Bills head coach spoke highly of the controversial businessman, applauding Trump for having the courage to say what’s on his mind when others might hold back. Ryan also praised Trump’s business acumen before welcoming him to the stage.

Ryan told The Associated Press he’s supporting Chris Christie for the Republican nomination, but Christie exited the race and has since endorsed Trump.

This is rocky terrain for Ryan, considering Trump tried to purchase the Bills in 2014 but lost the bid to current owners Terry and Kim Pegula.

And the organization made it clear that Ryan isn’t speaking on behalf of the Bills.

Apparently Tom Brady, Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick aren’t the only ones with ties to Trump.
