When the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues met in the first round of the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs, four of the six games required overtime to complete.
They’re 1-for-1 so far this time around.
The Blues toppled the Blackhawks 1-0 in overtime Wednesday night in Game 1 of their opening-round series, with David Backes providing the game-winner at the 9:04 mark of the extra session.
St. Louis, which has advanced to the second round just once since 2002, will look to take a 2-0 series lead over its Central Division rivals when the teams return to the ice Friday night for Game 2.
