The conference finals round of the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs ended Thursday when the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals. This means the order of selection for the 2016 NHL Draft in June is almost set.

The Lightning will pick 27th in Round 1, while the Western Conference runner-up St. Louis Blues slot in at No. 28. The last two picks will be made by the Stanley Cup finalist San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins, but neither team owns its 2016 first-rounder.

The Sharks owe it to the Boston Bruins for the Martin Jones trade. The Penguins owe theirs to the Toronto Maple Leafs for the Phil Kessel trade. Both deals were made last summer.
