The Arizona Coyotes named 26-year-old John Chayka as their general manager on Thursday.  The move makes Chayka the youngest GM in the history of the four major American sports leagues.

“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity,” Chayka said. “We have a great core of players and prospects here and a very bright future ahead of us.”

Chayka has one year of NHL front office experience after serving as assistant general manager/analytics for the Coyotes last season.  He replaces Don Maloney who served as Arizona’s GM for eight seasons before being relieved of his duties after the 2015-16 season.
