Bartolo Colon’s Home Run Didn’t Impress MLB Network’s Chris Russo

Bartolo Colon gave us one of the best moments of the young baseball season, but his impressive display of power didn’t impress everyone.

The New York Mets hurler made headlines over the weekend by hitting the first home run of his career. The portly pitcher did so at the ripe age of 43, the oldest age for any player in baseball history to hit their first home run.

The Mets and their fans celebrated wildly, or about as much as you can celebrate anything that could happen during a Mets-San Diego Padres game in May. Longtime baseball personality and New York media staple Chris Russo, however, wasn’t about to get in on the fun.

Russo said Monday on his MLB Network show, “High Heat,” that the celebration was overdone and that no one who’s not a fan of the Mets really cared. Russo conveyed that point of view in the sort of rant that’s become a hallmark of his career.
