Budweiser Undergoes Patriotic Name Change For Olympics, Copa America

While watching a sporting event, there’s nothing quite as refreshing as reaching into a cooler and grabbing some ice cold Buds Americas.

Wait, what?

Anheuser-Busch announced Tuesday that the King of Beers will rename its cans and bottles from “Budweiser” to “America” beginning May 23, and that the temporary rebranding will last until November’s presidential election.

The cans and bottles also will feature lines from the Pledge of Allegiance, “The Star Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful.”

The beer company said the reasoning behind the temporary name change was “to inspire drinkers to celebrate America and Budweiser’s shared values of freedom and authenticity,” according to a press release.

It doesn’t get much more American than drinking a can of America while cheering on Team USA during the Summer Olympics or Copa America Centenario. We’re guessing that’s what Bud was going for, too.
