The Celtics are going to become full-time Boston residents.

The team announced Tuesday plans to build a new “world-class” practice facility in Boston’s Allston-Brighton neighborhood. The facility will be in Boston Landing, home of New Balance’s world headquarters and the Boston Bruins’ new practice arena, among other businesses.

“We are proud to team with New Balance Development in the creation of a best-in-class athletic training and practice facility that will provide Celtics players, coaches, and training staff with the resources, technology, and programming to compete at the highest level in an increasingly competitive NBA landscape,” Celtics president Rich Gotham said in a press release. “The Boston Landing location will bring us closer to our game day home at the TD Garden while providing high impact brand visibility.”

The approximately 70,000-square-foot facility will overlook the Massachusetts Turnpike with 40-foot glass windows. It’ll include two parquet courts; expanded strength and conditioning, training and recovery facilities; physical therapy areas with hydrotherapy pools; sports science and nutrition facilities and much more.

The Celtics said construction will begin at the 40 Guest Street location in the fall of 2016, and it’s set to be completed in spring of 2018. The C’s have practiced at Healthpoint in Waltham, Mass., since 1999.
