David Ortiz is busy putting together one heck of a season in his Major League Baseball farewell tour. But apparently he’s still keeping up on his basketball news.

Ortiz, fresh off a two-homer performance in the Boston Red Sox’s win over the New York Yankees on Sunday, Big Papi took the time Monday to congratulate Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry on reportedly winning his second consecutive NBA MVP award.

Curry, as you can tell, is an avid Red Sox fan who even had his bachelor party at Fenway Park.

And apparently Ortiz keeps close tabs on Curry, because the NBA hasn’t even announced its MVP yet. In fact, Big Papi sent this tweet before reports even surfaced that Curry would take home the hardware. (The All-Star point guard winning MVP is all but a foregone conclusion, but we digress.)

Curry still is sidelined with a right knee injury he suffered in the Warriors’ first-round series against the Houston Rockets but is expected to return soon. Ortiz, meanwhile, is hitting at a casual .308 clip and already has mashed nine home runs and 27 RBIs in 31 games for the Sox.
